F/W23 Campus Editorial: Heart Eyes, Straight Face

Detroit-based photographer Samuel Trotter offers a tongue-in-cheek expression of unrequited love and unerring fixation in an editorial that spotlights the brand’s F/W23 Campus selection.

A recurring motif within collections, Campus offers space for this season’s prep-leaning styles, filtered through a Carhartt WIP lens. Key to this is the Women’s Rugged Letterman Jacket, constructed from cotton corduroy with a diamond quilted lining. The style is accented by embroidered detailing on the left chest.

The capsule's Ivy League feel is further emphasized by new knitwear styles – including a sleeveless V-neck that features ribbed detailing with contrast stripes. These are paired alongside sweatshirts and -pants, which bear subtle ‘C’ branding complete with a plaid fill. The same check motif can also be found on this season’s Beckley Coat – a classic heavyweight wool style accented by a cord collar, which is also available in dark navy.

The accompanying video was shot in Detroit, with Trotter drawing inspiration from cartoons of his childhood to deliver his typically wry approach to image-making.

The Carhartt WIP Fall/Winter 2023 collection is now available from carhartt-wip.com, Carhartt WIP stores and select wholesale retailers globally.

About Carhartt Work In Progress

Established in 1994 by Edwin Faeh, Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) develops its own collections based on original Carhartt workwear. The brand combines authentic adaptations of these robust American archetypes, while engaging with the subcultures that have embraced it. This, in turn, has seen Carhartt WIP place itself in a new context and bring forth its own classics.

Carhartt WIP opened its first store in London in 1997 and today operates over 80 brick and mortar locations worldwide. It also has its own skate team and music department, while supporting an array of artists and releasing various in-house publications. Since 2010, Carhartt WIP has worked with a number of like-minded collaborators, including A.P.C., Converse, Fragment Design, Junya Watanabe, Nike, Underground Resistance, and Motown.
