Carhartt WIP is pleased to announce the opening of its latest store in Amsterdam, located at Nieuwe Spiegelstraat 34.
Designed by Salomée Faeh and the Milan-based architecture studio of Andrea Caputo, the 230sqm space is situated in Spiegelkwartier – an historic district known for its art galleries and antiques.
The store occupies a former art gallery, and as a nod to its heritage, retains a pared-back, ‘white cube’ identity: white walls offset by white-coated tubing and shelving, and light plywood. The space also houses a commissioned artwork, spanning five meters, by Amsterdam-based multimedia artist Nazif Lopulissa.
These are combined with industrial design elements typically found in Carhartt WIP stores, such as concrete fixtures, exposed ductwork, and glass vitrines. Two life-sized, marble Carhartt WIP Boogeymen appear at the front of the store, while a towering steel display stands at the back, with a large speaker system mounted at the top.
The store opens to the public at noon on Thursday May 21, with a dedicated launch event on Friday May 22.

fdecarlo@carhartt-wip.comAbout Carhartt Work In Progress
Established in 1994 by Edwin Faeh, Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) develops its own collections based on original Carhartt workwear. The brand combines authentic adaptations of these robust American archetypes, while engaging with the subcultures that have embraced it. This, in turn, has seen Carhartt WIP place itself in a new context and bring forth its own classics.
Carhartt WIP opened its first store in London in 1997 and today operates over 80 brick and mortar locations worldwide. It also has its own skate team and music department, while supporting an array of artists and releasing various in-house publications. Since 2010, Carhartt WIP has worked with a number of like-minded collaborators, including A.P.C., Converse, Fragment Design, Junya Watanabe, Nike, Underground Resistance, and Motown.
