On September 24, Carhartt WIP Store Newcastle officially opened its doors to the public, carrying the men’s and women’s F/W25 collections.
Located on 133-137 Grainger Street in the central Grainger Town area, the store occupies an historic Grade 1 listed building, and features the hallmarks of 19th-century 'Tyneside Classical' architecture, with a four-storey stone construction, columns and vertical dormers.
The interior was designed by Salomée Faeh and the Milan-based architecture studio of Andrea Caputo. Spanning the ground and lower-ground floors, the store is connected by a central, straight-run staircase with a glass and steel banister – a signature of Carhartt WIP’s industrial design DNA. This approach is echoed throughout the space in its steel light fixtures, concrete pillars, and visible ductwork.
Meanwhile, more organic features – such as solid wood tables, honeycomb-textured seats, and marble counters – lend a sense of balance.

fdecarlo@carhartt-wip.comAbout Carhartt Work In Progress
Established in 1994 by Edwin Faeh, Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) develops its own collections based on original Carhartt workwear. The brand combines authentic adaptations of these robust American archetypes, while engaging with the subcultures that have embraced it. This, in turn, has seen Carhartt WIP place itself in a new context and bring forth its own classics.
Carhartt WIP opened its first store in London in 1997 and today operates over 80 brick and mortar locations worldwide. It also has its own skate team and music department, while supporting an array of artists and releasing various in-house publications. Since 2010, Carhartt WIP has worked with a number of like-minded collaborators, including A.P.C., Converse, Fragment Design, Junya Watanabe, Nike, Underground Resistance, and Motown.
