Carhartt WIP F/W23 Lookbook
A collision of tradition and evolution, the Carhartt WIP Fall/Winter 2023 collection looks to the brand’s own archives, while drawing inspiration from outdoor and utility wear, the bohemian artistry of the Bloomsbury Group, and collegiate-style layers.
Signature stalwarts like the classic Double Knee Pant and coveted Active Jacket form the backbone of the collection. These are complemented by items in the Oregon group, which feature a striped motif inspired by the blanket lining found inside the brand’s chore coat. This motif has been repurposed for wool-based outerwear and shirts, as well as cotton jersey staples and accessories. As ever, work-inspired denim, in a myriad weights and washes, continues to be foundational to each collection.
Elsewhere, outdoor- and military-inspired items pull from various adaptable elements – from army surplus to Ikat-inspired fleeces – to create an expression of timelessness. Also included are new iterations of classic MA-1 and MA-2 bomber jackets, as well as a bib and cargo pant hybrid.
Influenced by the Bloomsbury Group’s dandyish stylings and richly tactile surroundings, the collection features a series of Paisley-emblazoned items, with textures of soft corduroy and plush fleece appearing alongside seasonally-appropriate down outerwear. There is also the introduction of the brand’s new tonal label, which appears on t-shirts, sweats, and beanies.
Lending Ivy League silhouettes a sportswear feel are items like the Work Varsity Bomber, constructed from robust wool fabric and accented by embroidered typography. In this facet of the collection, elements of plaid are also replicated as graphic fills on sweats. Knitwear here is muted, with the Stanford Sweater and Sweater Vest styles solely detailed with contrast stripes.
The Carhartt WIP Fall/Winter 2023 collection is available at carhartt-wip.com, Carhartt WIP stores, and select retailers from today.

Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) is a clothing brand that adapts and modifies the core products of the pioneering American workwear brand Carhartt to create its own collections. Established in 1994 by Edwin Faeh, the brand’s audience is as likely to associate its iconic yellow ‘C’ motif with late 90s hip hop videos or skate clips as they are with factories or manual labor. This distinction is key when defining Carhartt WIP.
Carhartt WIP engages with different cultural spheres: from Detroit and Berlin’s symbiotic techno scenes, to skateboarding and its communities that span Paris, New York, and Seoul, to the contemporary art world. The brand channels these influences, reflecting the culture that has formed around it. This can be seen and felt in its collections, imagery, and collaboration partners. Today, Carhartt WIP operates over 100 brick and mortar retail stores across Europe, Asia, and the US, as well as working with select wholesale clients.
